The Insurance Authority is the regulatory body responsible for regulating, supervising, and overseeing the insurance sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its mandate includes protecting individuals and property, supporting the sustainability of economic activities, enhancing sector reliability, attracting foreign investment, and fostering innovation in insurance products and services, contributing to financial stability and aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

Our Objectives

  • Regulate, supervise, and oversee the insurance sector including the development of regulations and the issuance of licenses in a manner that enhances effectiveness and supports the establishment of a sustainable and well-functioning insurance market.
  • Protect the rights of policyholders and beneficiaries and strengthen their trust in insurance services, in line with the principles of fairness and transparency.
  • Promote Insurance Awareness and empower individuals and business to utilize digital services and understand insurance coverages, enabling informed and well-considered decision-making.
  • Support the growth of the insurance sector by reinforcing the principles and foundation of contractual insurance relationships, in a way that supports sector growth and the expansion of its services.

Our Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the National Insurance Strategy.
  • Establish public policies, plans, and programs related to the insurance sector.
  • Propose laws and regulations within the Authority’s scope of work.
  • Encourage investment in the insurance sector in coordination with related stakeholders.
  • Establish procedures for collecting, storing, utilizing, and benefiting from insurance data.
  • Conduct studies, research, and data analysis related to the insurance sector.
  • Set licensing requirements for conducting insurance activities.
  • Prepare and publish statistical reports and bulletins on the insurance sector.
  • Propose processes to enhance insurance coverage for public sector projects and investments in Saudi Arabia and assess the need to mandate insurance for activities under their supervision.
  • Provide official insurance statistics to public entities, private sector, individuals, and international bodies.
  • Prepare reports, build information databases related to the Authority’s scope, and exchange data with local, regional, and international entities.
  • Design and implement insurance training programs and develop qualified professionals in the field.
  • Organize conferences, seminars, and forums related to the Authority’s mandate.
  • Collaborate and exchange expertise with regional and international organizations and consulting firms within Saudi Arabia and abroad.
  • Represent Saudi Arabia in regional and international authorities, organizations, events, and conferences related to the Authority’s scope of work.
  • Enhance the beneficiary experience through the development and delivery of digital services (for individuals and business).
