The Saudi Pool for Marine Insurance is a national initiative established as a result of cooperative arrangement that brings together government support and the capabilities of Saudi Arabia's private insurance sector to provide an insurance solution for cargo and hull marine risks, ensuring continued coverage during periods of elevated risk.

Operating Model
- The Saudi Reinsurance Company (Saudi Re) is responsible for managing the Pool, including operational management and coordination primarily with the relevant insurance companies, in accordance with the approved frameworks and procedures.
- The Pool operates under a clear and integrated governance framework through a Technical Committee chaired by the Insurance Authority, with representatives from key entities and stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance, Saudi Export-Import Bank (Saudi EXIM), and the insurance sector.
- The Committee is supported by specialized subcommittees covering relevant technical areas, and comprising experts and specialists who provide in-depth assessment of technical matters and support professionally and technically sound decision-making.
