His Excellency, the Chairman of the Board of the Insurance Authority,
launches the regulatory sandbox platform for the insurance sector.
In the presence of His Excellency the Chairman of
the Board of Directors of the Insurance Authority, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Hassan
Al-Bouq, the Authority launched the Regulatory Sandbox Platform for the
Insurance Sector on the sidelines of the ‘Fintech 24’ conference, held from
September 3rd to 5th, 2024, at the Riyadh Front Conference and Exhibition
Center.
The purpose of the regulatory sandbox is to
provide a safe, controlled, and low-risk environment for entrepreneurs and
companies to test new solutions and innovations related to insurance activities
for a specific period until the activities or business models are fully
developed. This will contribute to stimulating and supporting innovation in the
insurance sector and facilitate the development of new and creative ideas within
a regulated framework that enables companies and innovators in the sector to
test their products, services, and business models in a safe environment. The
goal is to accelerate development and innovation processes and provide an
effective opportunity to explore innovative solutions and test their
effectiveness.
On this occasion, His Excellency Abdulaziz bin
Hassan Al-Bouq, Chairman of the Board of the Insurance Authority, stated: 'With
the rapid pace of digital development and the transformations taking place in
the sector due to the introduction of new advanced technologies and innovative
business models, it has become important to establish a framework that governs
these innovations and supports their empowerment in a conducive environment. We
support everything that accelerates the digital transformation of the insurance
sector, as we are committed to integrating the sector's business with the
provision of its services and facilitating them for beneficiaries. The
insurance sector is one of the most prominent financial services sectors that
falls within the interest of Saudi Vision for 2030 and is a fundamental pillar
for enhancing financial stability and stimulating sustainable growth.
Engineer Naji Al-Tamimi, the CEO of the Authority,
emphasized that the launch of the platform aligns with the Insurance
Authority's commitment to fostering innovative tools and enhancing its digital
transformation strategy. This initiative aims to improve the business
environment for the insurance sector in the Kingdom, streamline operational
mechanisms to better meet customer needs, and enhance its efficiency in
introducing innovative products and solutions that address their growing
demands-all in line with the aspirations of Vision 2030 and the objectives of
developing the financial sector.
It should be noted that the Insurance Authority is
hosting the ‘FinTech 24’ conference, where it will showcase its role in Vision
2030 and the latest innovations in the insurance sector, and highlight the
future of insurance technologies in the Kingdom.
